1. Strengthen UMass Amherst researchers’ engagement with evidence synthesis methodologies by contributing the expertise of librarians trained in systematic searching and protocol development.  

2. Enhance UMass Amherst’s impact on policy, practice, and scholarship by implementing the highest standards for planning and conducting systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and other evidence synthesis methodologies. 

3. Create opportunities for research partnerships between librarians and faculty in the context of evidence synthesis. 

4. Communicate the strengths of evidence synthesis methodologies and their differences from traditional literature reviews.
